That happens to everyone, moderators are not an exception to this. Things like that happen mostly when artists post their creations to Twitter first (as it is in the case of this picture) or they're using services like Patreon or Pixiv Fanbox to post highest quality and resolution versions of their drawings for people who support them.
For example I have around 180 pictures banned because there was a better version posted here.

That probably would need to be done to already existing pictures too, since removing metadata alters checksum for file?
Also I'm not entirely sure if it's a good idea to tamper with uploaded pictures in any way (at least I don't see it done on any other sites like ours or pixiv/Deviantart etc.)

This is an issue not only for this specific picture. I see the same blown up size on some other uploads from this artist.

I know it was metadata of some sorts, like JPEG thumbnails, but I didn't make sense for me for them to take sooooooo much space. I was kinda aware that Adobe Photoshop has some quirks with adding excessive amounts of metadata to JPEG files, but I didn't thought it was so bad...

In Polish language there is no universal word for this type of footwear too.
